Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://pontoonboatingforfamilies.com.

Our names are Michael and Elaine and we may be contacted at ChefRD@gmail.com.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Analytics

By default WordPress does not collect any analytics data.

Our website uses analytics and performance tools to understand how visitors interact with our pages, improve loading speed, and enhance overall user experience. We respect your privacy and limit the data we collect to what is necessary for site performance and audience insight.

1. Site Kit by Google (Analytics & Search Console)

We use Site Kit by Google to connect our site with Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
These services may collect information such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Device type, operating system, and browser
  • Approximate geographic region (city-level, not precise location)
  • Referring website or search query

This information helps us analyze traffic trends and improve content.
Data may be processed by Google in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy.
If you wish to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2. Performance Optimization Plugins

We use the following official WordPress performance plugins:

  • Performance Lab, including modules such as Embed Optimizer, Enhanced Responsive Images, Image Prioritizer, Instant Back/Forward, Modern Image Formats, Optimization Detective, and Performant Translations.
These plugins measure technical performance (for example, how quickly pages load) using anonymous, aggregated data processed on our own server.
They do not collect or share any personally identifiable information or behavioral analytics.

3. Image Optimization Services

We use Kraken Image Optimizer to compress images and improve page-load speed.
When an image is optimized, it is securely transmitted to Kraken’s servers for processing and returned to our site.
This process affects only website media files and does not collect visitor data.

4. SEO Tools

We use The SEO Framework to manage meta tags and improve search-engine visibility.
It operates entirely on our server and does not collect analytics or transmit data externally.

5. Cookies and Tracking Choices

Some analytics functions rely on small text files known as cookies.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings and opt out of analytics tracking by using browser add-ons or disabling cookies.

If you are located in the EU or California, you may also exercise rights related to data access, deletion, or restriction as outlined in the “Your Privacy Rights” section of this policy.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

By default WordPress does not share any personal data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How we protect your data

We have taken measures to protect your users’ data including but not limited to technical measures such as encryption; security measures such as two factor authentication; and measures such as staff training in data protection.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We take your privacy and data security seriously. Although our website does not store sensitive personal information, we maintain safeguards to protect any data collected through this site.

If a data breach occurs, we will:

  • Investigate and contain the issue immediately.
  • Secure affected systems and reset any compromised credentials.
  • Notify users and authorities when required by law.
  • Review the incident to strengthen future protection.

If you believe your information has been compromised, please contact us at ChefRD@gmail.com with “Data Security Concern” in the subject line.

What third parties we receive data from

We receive limited, non-personal data from trusted third parties that help us analyze and improve our website performance:

  • Google (via Site Kit): Provides aggregated analytics data such as page views, search queries, and general geographic trends through Google Analytics and Search Console. This information helps us understand how visitors find and use our website.
  • Affiliate Networks: If you click on an affiliate link, our affiliate partners may send us anonymous performance data (for example, whether a referral resulted in a purchase). This data does not include your name, payment information, or personal identifiers.
  • Hosting and Security Providers: Our web hosting and performance partners may provide system-level information (like IP addresses or error logs) for site maintenance and security purposes.

We do not receive personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details from any third party unless you provide them directly to us.
